Buffalo Tree challenged (banned?) in PA.

People aren't agreeing on whether the book has actually been banned or not:

Dr. Joseph S. Yarworth, Muhlenberg superintendent, disputed the idea that the book was banned.

He said the board wanted to make sure that students were not taught the novel in English classes, and that it was removed from the curriculum.

Students can still read the book on their own time during a study hall, he said.

Yarworth, however, acknowledged that “The Buffalo Tree” cannot be found in the school library. He explained that a copy was stolen several years ago and not replaced.

“If the book was still in the library, we would not have removed it from the shelves,” he said.

High school teachers said they were ordered to surrender copies of “The Buffalo Tree” following the school board's April 13 action. Those books were locked in a storage room.

Yep.  Locked in a storage room.  You'd think that if they really wanted to make it available to students during their study halls, they'd at least let the library have a couple of the copies.

I've gotta say, though, if it's anything like 33 Snowfish, I'm surprised there wasn't more trouble sooner.
