This is how it starts, folks.
From the QCTimes.com:
My 10-year-old son brought a book home from Monroe Elementary School called “1001 Facts About the Human Body.”
I think it's pretty safe to say that Ms. Farmer isn't part of a larger group that tries to ban books while pretending that they aren't (*cough* Laurie Taylor *cough*), since she actually says that she wants the section on reproduction "censored". I'm not sure if that means the pages should be glued together or cut out.
Really, I shouldn't make fun. This bit about feeling "as though I’m fighting a losing battle for my son’s innocence" was poignant. But, poignant or not, it's still censorship.
A high school English teacher in Arizona responded pretty quickly, which seemed odd to me, since the lady was complaining about a book in Iowa. I don't mean that it was odd for the Arizona teacher to respond, just that no one in Iowa did. Hopefully, the whole thing will just blow over.
