National Book Award Finalists announced.

This is what I get for being out sick--I miss big news.

The finalists for Young People's Literature are:

Jeanne Birdsall, The Penderwicks (Alfred A. Knopf)

Adele Griffin, Where I Want to Be (Putnam)

Chris Lynch, Inexcusable (Atheneum)

Walter Dean Myers, Autobiography of My Dead Brother (HarperTempest)

Deborah Wiles, Each Little Bird That Sings (Harcourt)

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't read any of them.  But, in my defense, the Chris Lynch book isn't even out yet. (You can see the full list here.)
