The Boy Next Door -- Meggin Cabot
I picked this up at the library book sale, brought it home, started reading it and realized that I'd already read it. Not only that, but I think I might already have a copy of it packed away somewhere. I hate it when I do that.
I read the whole thing over again and... BO-RING! Her books all seem to be the same. And yet, I read the whole thing--not because I couldn't stop, mind you, but because it seems that I feel I have this stupid obligation to finish a book even if I don't want to... (except on those rare occasions when I find myself reading a book that is SO BAD that I just can't continue.)
So, I think I'm done with Meg Cabot's grown-up books. For good. And actually, I think I'm done with her YA books, too. Because:
A) The Princess Diaries books have gone downhill to such an extent that I had to force myself to finish the last two and
B) She ended the Mediator series (I think. If she continues it after what she did in #6, it'll be just as bad as what's happened to the Princess Diaries. Worse even, because the Mediator books were so much better to begin with.) which was easily the best thing she had going.
Of course, after saying all that, I just looked at her website, and she's got a new book coming out in January that looks like it might have possibilities... So maybe I'll keep the hope alive a little longer.
