The Club Dumas -- Arturo Perez-Reverte

Okay, so this book was super popular a gazillion years ago, but I never got around to reading it until this weekend.  Loved it.  Josh tried to talk to me while I was reading, and apparently it didn't work out very well.  I was INTO it.  (Clearly, it was a good reading weekend.)

The book starts with a suspicious suicide and moves on to murder after murder, all of the events connected to a chapter from the original manuscript of The Three Musketeers of questionable authenticity and (get this) DEVIL WORSHIP!  I don't know about you, but throw devil worship into a book, and as far as I'm concerned, it just gets better.  It just RULED.

Also, there's a character named Irene Adler.  Too cool.

It made me want to go back and read a ton of Dumas. (Not that I've read much -- okay, okay, I think I read the Classics Illustrated versions of The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers when I was younger.  A few years back, I read the actual Count of Monte Cristo, prior to seeing the movie which I kind of loved even though it butchered the book...  That stupid string ring thing!  Gah!)

(I haven't seen theJohnny Depp movie.  I suspect it might be really, really bad.  But I admit to being curious.)
