Sequel to Chocolat (among other things) in the works.
It's titled The Lollipop Shoes.
I still haven't read Chocolat (I know, I know), but I adored Gentlemen & Players to an almost alarming degree, so I'll probably get around to it soon.
It seems that Joanne Harris has a children's book coming out as well:
My agent took Runemarks to the Bologna book fair last week, and, rather to my surprise, offers have been flooding in. You may remember that I’ve always had qualms about presenting this story, fond of it though I am. I’ve kept it under wraps for such a long time (till recently only Anouchka had ever read it) partly because I was enjoying the process too much to let it go, but mostly because I wasn’t sure whether I was capable of writing a children’s book - or even if Runemarks counted as a children’s book at all. So I’m agreeably surprised by this sudden interest in my guilty little personal pleasure-project, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. Knopf have bought it for the US, and Transworld are talking about releasing it over here in autumn 2007, which gives me plenty of time, both to arrange an illustrator (I already have someone in mind) and for any rewriting the book may need before it’s ready for publication. Actually, I’ve been working on this story for so long that I feel slightly bereft without it now – if this continues I may have to begin the sequel straightaway, if only for Anouchka and myself.
I'm usually a bit of a snob about children's book by authors who usually write for adults, but I'm really curious about this one.
