Brent Hartinger interviewed at AfterElton.
He's interviewed by Michael Jensen, who just happens to be his partner of fourteen years -- but don't worry. Michael Jensen is all about the hard-hitting journalism:
AfterElton: So since we're partners of fourteen years, and you also write for me for AfterElton, I have to ask some hard-hitting questions to establish my journalistic credibility.
Brent Hartinger: Michael, I would expect nothing less.AE: I've cleaned the kitty box three times in a row. Are you trying to drive me insane?
BH: I'll clean the kitty box when you start aiming in the general vicinity of the toilet bowl.
It's a great (and extremely funny) interview -- BH talks about his new book Split Screen, about gay teen lit vs. gay grown-up lit (and in doing so, possibly pissed off every gay grown-up lit writer out there), about the portrayal of gay teens on television vs. in books, working as an extra in a movie, the Geography Club movie and his upcoming books, which (HOORAY!) include a BOOK ABOUT KEVIN and a BOOK ABOUT MIN!
