In a fit of rage, Joan
CollinsCrawford* chops off the heads of her husband and his lover. Twenty years later, she is released from an asylum and goes to live with her daughter (who witnessed the murders). It isn't long before the axe starts swinging again.Do I really need to say anything here?
I admit it. I got back on the Black Adder train because Hugh Laurie (insert big dreamy sigh here) is in the third season**. He plays opposite Rowan Atkinson's Black Adder as Prince George, who is probably the stupidest man in England. And he's freaking hilarious. The episode with Stephen Fry as Duke Wellington was The Best Thing Ever. EVER.
Highlights from Boston's Other Marathon (other than interrogating Steve about his Love Life -- sorry again, Steve, I couldn't help myself):
It's not out on DVD yet, but definitely watch for it. Very dark, very creepy (not horror movie creepy, psychologically icky creepy). Easily my favorite of the bunch.
Yes, yes, I'd never seen it. I realize that makes me a bad person. Wanna hear something even worse? I've never read The Tempest (Forbidden Planet is based on it).
A group of teenagers stay late at the mall to par-tay. Coincidentally, a lightning storm makes the robot security guards TURN INTO KILLERS!! Way awesome. The exploding head got a very loud "OOOOOOooooo" from the audience.
Any movie that features an alien played by a large plastic beach ball with big rubber claws is okay by me. It was very, very strange, but very, very cool. I might need to own it.
My fave shorts:
I'm so jazzed that I went -- I'm totally going again next year!
*Thanks, Erin, I'm a moron -- but that would have been a fun movie, too.
**That isn't to say that I didn't love the first two -- just that there were other things above it in my Netflix queue.
