Wowza. My bank has less frightening security.
From OnlineAthens.com:
The Clarke County Board of Education has voted to restrict student access to a book about rape and teenage pregnancy, though the novel won praise from reviewers.
The 1999 book, "Imani All Mine" by Connie Porter, is the "sympathetic but unsentimental story of a teenage mother," according to one reviewer.
The board has ruled that students must have a signed permission slip to check out the book. The book will not be on the regular shelves, to prevent any browsing by Students Who Lack Slip. Also, when the school librarians receive a signed permission slip from a student, they will call the parent to be sure that the student didn't forge the slip.
No word on whether or not the woman who raised the complaint will appeal the decision -- she's already appealed twice -- the first appeal led to the Prevention of Forgery Double-Check Phone Call Rule, the second didn't go anywhere.
