What timing!
What My Mother Doesn't Know has been challenged at the Spring Hill Middle School in Wisconsin:
Sherry Volkey complained to the district about the book after her 11-year-old daughter checked it out and showed it to her.
"I was deeply appalled when she brought this book to my attention and read to me a poem in here about getting undressed and taking your bare chest and sticking it up against a winter window," Volkey told the board Monday.
The school board has ruled that the book will be available to seventh- and eighth-graders, but sixth-graders are no longer allowed to check the book out.
I certainly hope this starts an underground Sonya Sones movement among the sixth graders. That would rule.
