Collier challenge.
From the Toledo Blade:
RAWSON, Ohio — The Cory-Rawson Local School District has appointed a committee to review a book assigned to fifth-grade English students after a parent found it objectionable.
Superintendent Richard Steiner said the parent filed a written challenge of the book, My Brother Sam is Dead, because the Revolutionary War story contained profanity he felt was inappropriate for fifth graders. He asked that the book be removed from the school library.
So he's objecting to its use in the classroom or its availability in the library? Or both? Sounds like both. From what I've read, the book is no stranger to challenges due to the profanity and the violence. I haven't read it since, well, fifth grade or thereabouts. Guess it's time to pick it up again.
