Richard Belzer is planning on pulling a Kinky Friedman.

No, he's not running for governor*:

Simon & Schuster just gave him a two-book deal, with the first volume slated to appear next fall. They're going to be mystery novels, and the protagonist in each tale will be... veteran character actor Richard Belzer.

His list of influences?  "Dashiell Hammett, Oscar Wilde, Lenny Bruce, and Robert Altman".  I'll totally give this one a try.  Because, c'mon!  It's Richard Belzer.

*As far as I know, anyway.  Yet.
