I don't remember running across this little nugget of Stephen King awesome before now:

It's part of his long-standing "Dollar Baby" rule that allows newcomers to adapt a short tale for only a buck, as long as no one has already made a movie from it, and the ultimate rights revert to him.

But the real news (for me, anyway) is that there's a movie version of The Mist in the works.  Remember that story?  I sure do -- it scared the bejebus out of me when I was eleven.
