Recent A/V.
I loved this show in high school. All I really remembered about it was the body in the dishwasher and the scary Cupid serial rapist/killer team-up of That 70's Show Red Forman and Stephen Tobolowsky. Oh, and Kenny dating the twins.
What I didn't remember is how Ripped-From-the-Headlines it is. Or how irritating it is that all of the characters have all of the related statistics to This Week's Issue memorized. Or how much I don't like Kathy Baker's character. Or how the middle son totally wanted to be a young Corey Feldman. Or how annoying the youngest son is. (I kind of wanted to drown him. I just looked him up on the IMDb, and it turns out that he played Grant Winters on Veronica Mars -- The Wrath of Con, remember? "You need to lay off the caffeine, Grrrant!")
Even so, the minor characters were worth a re-visit. I will always love Douglas Wambaugh.
We watched The Body in the Library last night. Not only was Geraldine McEwan fantastic as Miss Marple, but Joanna Lumley was hilarious and it turns out that I still have a crush on Simon Callow. And we both almost fainted when one of the Little Britain guys showed up. Love him. Hugely enjoyable. Hoping to bring another one home tonight.
As I adore the original, I didn't expect to like this all that much. Turned out that I loved it -- so much so that I think I'll ultimately buy it. The scene with Rainn Wilson in the cardboard box? We had to hit pause because I was laughing so hard. And the Diversity Day episode was fantastic.
