New school year, new controversy...
...same old book.
What do you want to bet that The Chocolate War will end up on the Top Ten list again?
From the Newark Advocate:
“I know this book wouldn’t be allowed in my house,” said David Doran, of Burlington Township, of The Chocolate War, a young adult book to be assigned to freshmen later this year. “When you get into it, you see all the sexual innuendo. It says the Lord’s name in vain, which I don’t agree with.”
Doesn't sound like a formal challenge has been issued, just that some parents are unhappy with the book. Hopefully, it'll all get resolved with an alternate reading option rather than a pulling of the book.
