Two more challenges.

This week has been crazy for the book challenges, eh?

In Pennsylvania:

EAST STROUDSBURG — Two books on East Stroudsburg's reading list drew fire at Monday's school board meeting for containing what one parent described as racially insensitive language.

So, want to take a guess?  Huck Finn?  Nope.  To Kill a Mockingbird?  Nope.  Uncle Tom's Cabin?  Nope, though all three have been challenged for the same reason.

Ready?

Here they are:  The Great Gilly Hopkins... and Freaky Friday.

Now, Gilly Hopkins gets challenged with some regularity, usually for "taking the Lord's name in vain".  I've never run into anyone who took issue with Freaky Friday, though.  According to the article, in 2001 it was challenged in Florida for being "anti-Christian".

Wheeeee.

Man, can I just say that I LOVE The Great Gilly Hopkins, and that now I want to re-read it?  Yeah?  Okay, here goes:

I LOVE The Great Gilly Hopkins.  Now I want to re-read it.
