Challenge time.
• In Virginia, And Tango Makes Three has been pulled from circulation in all Loudon County elementary school libraries. It was challenged, the principal ruled it appropriate for the library, the challenger appealed, a formal challenge committee found it appropriate for the library, but then the Superintendent overrode the decision and had the book pulled. It can still be checked out, but only if it is specifically requested by an adult. It remains on the shelves of the middle school and high school libraries.
• In Tennessee, Rep. Stacey Campfield has introduced a bill that would "ban anything that exposes students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade to homosexuality". The article doesn't mention the school libraries, but I assume they'd be affected.
