Links and whatnot.
- I would like to start off by letting you know that this morning, a patron handed me an envelope (as her proof of residency to get a library card) that was DRENCHED in cat urine. (Obviously, I didn't realize until I actually had it in my hand and the smell hit me and OH MY GOD, I have to wash my hands again.) After glancing at it, I handed it back and she folded it up and PUT IT BACK INTO HER POCKET.
- More on the Magic Under Glass situation: The Guardian has picked up the story. Jaclyn Dolamore has responded to the controversy on her blog. The comments there are very positive, and, while I am glad that she has a strong support network (because, wow, what a crappy turn of events for a debut author), I do think it's too bad that many people seem to be viewing the situation as an unimportant annoyance. But, then, everyone is totally entitled to their own opinions, so there you go. There are a few comments about the response to the response (god, this is getting confusing) at Chasing Ray.

- If the Printz and Printz Honors aren't enough for you -- and really, how long will five books last, assuming that you haven't read them already? -- be sure to check out the BIG YALSA lists: Best Books for YAs (and the Top Ten), Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers (and the Top Ten), etc. (The Reformed Vampire Support Group? Really? Yecch. Also, it seems strange to me that 203 books were nominated, and 90 of them ended up on the BBYA list -- it just doesn't seem all that... choosy. But, as usual, what do I know? Not much. And I know I'll add the ones I haven't read to my TBR list. ANYWAY, WAIT. I TAKE IT ALL BACK (the complaining part) BECAUSE THEY INCLUDED GENTLEMEN!)
- Jackie Parker (who is ALSO on the Gentlemen train) has posted her 2009 Top Ten for readergirlz.
More later, maybe.
