I have a copy of that exact-same Lurlene McDaniel book on my desk at work.

I haven't been able to bring myself to read it, as I feel that her books are best read aloud, REALLY, REALLY dramatically.  Also:  When I talk about her, I always add an 's' to the end of her name.  Sorry, Ms. McDaniel.  Also also:  Have you ever played the Lurlene McDaniel game, in which you entertain yourself by making up new LM titles?  Or is that just something I do with my sister.  Either way?  BIG FUN.

ANYWAY.

I'd be down with an Anastasia movie, as long as it wasn't a travesty (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, RAMONA¹.)  And as long as they didn't cast that smirky generic girl from the new covers.  And as long as it didn't end up too jokey.  Because the books are hilarious, but not jokey.

But the suggestion that I think is TOTALLY RIGHT ON THE MONEY is for movie versions of the Fear Street books.  Get on that, Wes Craven.

¹Had this interaction with a patron yesterday (I think the nice weather is making everyone punchy):

Patron:  Oh, so I saw a movie this weekend that made me think of you, because the girl had the same name as that t-shirt you were wearing last week.  Bee... Been... Bee...

Me:  Beezus?  Yeah, I love those books.

Patron:  The movie was really cute, did you see it?

Me:  I... I... saw the trailer.  But... I... [deep breath as I try to pull it together] THAT JUST WASN'T BEEZUS.

Patron <who, to her credit struggled against laughing at me before she finally gave in>:  Well, that must be very hard for you.
