Vanilla beans, vanilla beans!
Perhaps it is a tad silly to be so excited about finally ordering fresh vanilla beans so as to make my own vanilla extract, but... I don't care.
I am excited, and that is that.
(In case anyone is wondering, I'm going to make one batch of extract with vodka and one batch with rum. And then I will have to bake a whole lot. Which is fine by me. If it ever cools off enough for baking to be bearable, that is...)
