Simmer down, simmer down.
The triceratops is not going to go the way of the brontosaurus¹.
According to these guys, the triceratops and the torosaurus were actually the same species, with the triceratops being the juvenile and the torosaurus being the grown-up. They're saying that as the animal aged, the horns and frill shifted and changed shape. (Also, they use the word fenestrate, like, three times in the article, which made me happy. It's a good one to say: fenestrate fenestrate fenestrate. Say it. SAY IT! I promise it'll make you laugh.)
Anyway, the scientists who are making the claim say that they'll chuck the torosaurus and keep the triceratops (name-wise, I mean), but I don't know how soon anything will happen, because according to another scientist, although their argument is persuasive, it'll be a controversial one.
Is it silly to feel sad about animals that were gone a zillion years before I was born? Probably. But that doesn't stop me mourning the dodo (plock plock), so I don't feel bad about holding a torch for the dinosaurs.
