I'm currently reading John Grisham's YA book, and...

...wow.

I have dogeared almost every single page. Not for my usual reasons: because of a line I especially like, or because of foreshadowing or something else that I want to go back to -- no, I have dogeared almost every single page because on almost every single page I've hit something that annoys me.

It's certainly possible that I'm being harder on this book than I would if it were by a debut author¹, but I dunno.
