A reminder.
What the National Book Foundation put Lauren Myracle through over the last week flat-out sucks.
She's reacted with nothing but poise and grace (most recently in this Vanity Fair interview), and they have, at every turn, looked like a bunch of walnut-brained asses.
But, due to some chatter I've seen on Twitter and in the comments of news articles and other places, I feel the need to say something that SHOULD already be obvious:
What happened to Lauren Myracle and Shine is the fault of the National Book Foundation. The situation came about purely because of their mistake, and because of their crap response to that mistake.
It is NOT the fault of Franny Billingsley or of Chime.
Assuming that Chime's inclusion on the list is the reason that Shine was dropped is a logical fallacy.
And it does everyone involved a disservice to suggest it.
That is all.
