SF37.
Oh, my dears.
After spending almost 24 hours (I cut out before the last movie) at this year's Boston Sci-Fi Marathon, I am a bit broken. Here's the almost-full list of films. The only film that's missing, Folklore, is the one I missed, but it's one I'll keep an eye out for, as it looks super-odd in a hopefully good way:

Anyway, a few notes:
Movies I'd already seen: 3.
Movies I hadn't seen: 11.
Movies I thought I'd seen but hadn't: 1.
Movies featuring guys with whips: 2.
Movies in which dogs were killed by aliens: 2.
Movies starring Nick Frost: 2.
Movies with a whole lot of stock footage: 2. (3? I forget.)
Movies with bad guys So Horrible that the audience hissed every single time they appeared and cheered like lunatics when they Finally Met Their Ends: 2.
My fave, hands down: Endhiran:

My other fave, hands down (as expected), was Attack the Block:

Movie I enjoyed much more than I expected to: Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I avoid animal movies as they always make me cry, but this one had me (and everyone in the audience) whooping (literally) as Caesar & Co. took out Draco Malfoy, Brian Cox, and everyone else in their way to freedom.
Movie I enjoyed, but a bit less than I expected to: Dimensions:

It was promoted as Masterpiece Theatre does sci-fi, but... I dunno. It felt like it was working a little too hard at Being Deep, and I hated the way the story left poor Annie. Halfway through the movie, I was ready for her to tell both male leads to Stick It, and head off by herself into the sunset. But, then, it made me all weepy at the end, so clearly I cared. I might need to watch it again to make up my mind.
Oh, Boston SF Marathon, thank you as always for a fabulous time. I'm already excited for next year.
