Afternoon links.
- Why I Vote. (I voted yesterday afternoon after work, btw.)
- The AV Club gives Jasper Fforde's YA book a mixed review: "If anything, Fforde’s first foray into young-adult writing may read as a little young, closer to a mid-grade book. The prose is simple, the mood is light, and there’s no sex or violence or dry adult concerns to wrestle with. On the flip side, though, the book doesn’t particularly speak to teenagers’ place in life or in the world, in spite of the teenage protagonist." I always enjoy Fforde's books less than I think I will, but I'm sure I'll get around to The Last Dragonslayer eventually.
- Director's cut! Of Little Shop of Horrors! Downer ending intact!
- Mockingjay, Parts One and Two (barrrrrrf), will be directed by Francis Lawrence.
- This month, NPR's Backseat Book Club is reading Rick Riordan's The Red Pyramid.
- The Picture Letters of Beatrix Potter.
- Nancy Drew, the early years.
