The praise you get at school for your writing doesn’t compare, doesn’t even come close, to the satisfaction you get from your personal writing, am I right? Kiddo, I have some news: You have no idea how important that’s going to be in the future. You’re going to write some really crazy shit someday. And you’ll have the guts to do it because you’re learning right now to write for you, not the praise of people in charge. You don’t feel especially gutsy right now, I know. Kid, you’d be surprised.
