Use of Part-time Indian approved by school board in Grants Pass, OR.
From the Daily Astorian:
Board member Gary Richardson was the lone dissenter in Tuesday's vote, saying there are thousands of other books available. "Surely there's one that doesn't cause this level of concern," he said.
But four of his colleagues on the board said that after reading the book they found the subject matter not nearly as objectionable as they had been led to believe. Several even described it as tame, compared to routine programming on TV.
"I found it fascinating. ... It's a great book," board member Gary Penning said.

THEY READ IT BEFORE MAKING THE DECISION??? WHAT A CRAZY IDEA.
They should have a long chat with the Cape Henlopen school board.
