Through the Woods Emily Carroll
Me, while reading Through the Woods: OMG, this could become this generation's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark! It's so pretty and atmospheric and I love the rhythm of the words and AUUUUUUUUUGH.
AUUUUUUUUUUUUGH.
AOOOOOOGGGGGGAAA.
Yeah, so, it's also really really scary and I think I'll finish reading it tomorrow morning instead of right now.
Josh, hopefully: Does that mean that you're going to stop shrieking?
Me: Barring nightmares, yes. But after those stories, nightmares are a distinct possibility, so.
Josh: *side eye*
Me: It's totally creepy! I'm not even being a wimp! LOOK! LOOK AT THE SCARY PICTURES!
A SEVERED HEAD! AND THEN THE STORY GETS SCARIER! AND AUUUUUGH, DOES THIS BEDROOM SCENE ECHO GOODNIGHT MOON, OR AM I IMAGINING THINGS? BECAUSE GAAAAAH:
Josh: Are you going to calm down and let me read my own book at some point?
Me: When I've distracted myself away from being freaked out, yes.
Josh: So, you LIKE the book, yeah?
Me: Oh, yes. Love, even.
