The 2015 Youth Media Awards.
I'm sure you've already seen all of the lists of winners and so on, but! I'm going to post a few things/thoughts/tweets anyway.
This was the first Midwinter conference I've actually managed to attend—I know, right?—and so I was understandably pretty lathered up before the awards even started:
And yes, there was crying:
SO. MUCH. CRYING:
Not to mention a good amount of delirious laughter and joy:
So happy to finally experience it in person.
Links to winners and honors that I've covered:
The Crossover, by Kwame Alexander (Newbery medal, CSK honor)
El Deafo, by Cece Bell (Newbery honor)
This One Summer, by Jillian Tamaki and Mariko Tamaki (Caldecott honor, Printz honor)
I'll Give You the Sun, by Jandy Nelson (Printz medal, Stonewall honor)
Gabi: A Girl in Pieces, by Isabel Quintero (Morris winner)
Huh. Apparently I read a LOT more than I wrote about last year, sigh.
But anyway, GABI, YAAAAAAAAAAAAY MUPPET FLAIL PEANUTS DANCE FREAK OUT!!!!
