Couple of Old School Mysteries today:

• The Floating Admiral, by Members of The Detection Club: First of all, I have no idea how I’m only just stumbling over the existence of this book NOW, but here we are?? Apparently, Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, and at least ten of their contemporaries got together and collaborated on a mystery novel? They each wrote a chapter AND their own solution? WHAT?? Also, there are a bunch MORE of these?? Also also, how did I not know about The Detection Club, PERIOD?? (It’s always so exciting to find things like this—it’s amazing to me that we can be pretty well-versed in a specific topic and yet STILL be delightfully surprised. Hooray!)

• Casino Royale, by Ian Fleming: The first Bond book! I’m not a huge Bond person for all of the various killjoy reasons you’d expect from me, buuuut at the same time I have a weird compulsion to understand the Whys and Hows and Wheres behind juggernauts like this and other stories that have been so influential on, like, an entire genre across all formats??
