It’s raining and I’m cozy and I want to read all of these books and the idea of leaving the house to go to work has me gutted.
SF alt-history: The Calculating Stars, by Mary Robinette Kowal. Winner of the Nebula, Locus, AND Hugo!
Alchemist fantasy: Middlegame, by Seanan McGuire. Hugo finalist! Locus winner! I adore McGuire’s Wayward Children series, so I’ve been meaning to read this standalone for ages. MAYBE IT’S FINALLY TIME.
Historical mystery: The Last Passenger, by Charles Finch. This is number thirteen, and I’ve only read the first one, but… I always need solid classic-feeling mysteries to fall back on for comfort reading, so maybe it’s a GOOD thing that I’ve only read the first one? (So many to look forward to!!)
Romantic fantasy: Wicked Saints, by Emily A. Duncan. The publisher description calls this “devastatingly Gothic.“ Well, we’ll see…
