Capitol Couture.
The newest Hunger Games promo thingie* has been revealed, and it's made me think more about some conversations I've had on Twitter about the campaign in general. The basic gist of the conversation has been:
Are the people in charge of the marketing campaign aware that the residents of the Capitol:
A) Are not remotely the heroes,
B) And, worse, already represent us in a really unattractive way?
C) Is irony involved?
Same questions, but swap out "people in charge of the marketing campaign" for "fans".
My take on it is that the marketing campaign is designed to look like it's being run by the Panem government, so that angle makes sense. What makes less sense to me is that a lot of fans are all gung-ho to get all Capitol-ed up.
Which seems weird.
Then again, I'm totally excited to see more crazy clothes.
So I guess I'm totally buying in to it as well.
Or something.
