House of Night: Legacy, #2 -- P.C. Cast, Kristen Cast, Kent Dalian, Joelle Jones, Karl Kerschl

Hon 2

Okay, so in the last issue, Nyx taught Zoey Redbird All-Important Lesson #1 of being a leader (and the lesson was connected to the earth element, but I missed how): ask for help when you need it.

This time, the lesson is related to Air, and it involves a story about Boudicca's daughters. It's pretty rapey.

Actually, that's an understatement. It's mondo rapey.

Artwork? Seriously. Aphrodite's skirt is so short that if certain panels were lit differently, we'd totally be able to see her fallopian tubes. There's one panel where she bends over to be mean to one of the Interchangeable Friends and ALL OF HER STUFF is right in the other Interchangeable Friend's face. Like, ALL OF IT. Yecch. Anyway.

Storyline? The writing continues to exhibit the same issues as the novels, most of which I mentioned in my previous post. New stuff:

There's an infodump explaining Zoey's whole Five Lessons From Nyx deal: In a conversation that makes no sense, Zoey recaps the whole thing for Damien, WHO ASKS ALL ABOUT IT, EVEN THOUGH HE WAS THERE WHEN THE WHOLE THING WENT DOWN. Awesome.

AND OH MY GOD, SHE BREAKS OUT THE 'LIKE MY CHEROKEE ANCESTORS SAID' LINE. (For the uninitiated, in the novels, Zoey Redbird brings up her Cherokee ancestors, like, every fifteen minutes.

Keep going?

If I was paying for them, I'd say no, but as I have a few more, I know I'll end up reading them.
