What? What??

You've heard about the unpublished Roald Dahl manuscript that just sold on eBay, right?

Have you heard the story behind it?

From the Guardian:

Jerry Biederman and Tom Silberkleit successfully approached a range of high-profile authors, including Richard Adams, Joan Aiken and Mary Poppins creator PL Travers, to write the openings of short stories that children could then finish themselves. ...  but Biederman and Silberkleit ended up being distracted by other projects [<--my emphasis, obvs] and the planned volume did not see the light of day.

IS THAT NOT THE CRAZIEST THING YOU'VE HEARD TODAY? Having an unpublished Joan Aiken story (or half, anyway) in hand and then GETTING DISTRACTED? Shocking.

Happily, it looks like the project might get finished yet, so maybe we'll luck out...
