Is the author familiar with fanfiction, really? Because generally I get the impression that most folks write it because they love the original SO MUCH that they don't want it to be over. I guess that's where he's picking up on the 'contempt'? Because the fans aren't satisfied with it as it is? Or am I trying to hard to understand a statement that just flat-out doesn't make sense?
